Overview
A UNESCO city of gilded temples, morning alms, and Mekong light.
Luang Prabang moves at its own pace. Between the Mekong and the Nam Khan, a compact old town of gilded temples and French-Lao shophouses has kept its rhythm — monks at dawn, markets at dusk. This itinerary gives the city the time it deserves, with day trips to the waterfalls and river caves that surround it.
Best from October to April, when the skies are clear and the Kuang Si pools run bright turquoise.
