Vang Vieng has outgrown its old reputation as a party stop — today it's Laos's best base for river, cave, and limestone-cliff adventure. This itinerary balances a genuine adrenaline day with slower river time and a village-level look at rural life along the Nam Song.
Departures run year-round; the cool season (Nov–Feb) gives the clearest water and best cave visibility.

Full Itinerary
Day
01
Vientiane → Vang Vieng, Blue Lagoon & Caves
Private transfer north along Route 13. Afternoon at the Blue Lagoon and Tham Chang cave, with the viewpoint climb at golden hour. Overnight in Vang Vieng.

02
Kayaking, Villages & Sunset on the River
Morning kayak down the Nam Song, stopping at riverside villages. Afternoon free for optional ballooning or ziplining, closing with sunset drinks on the water.

03
Rice Fields & Return to Vientiane
Slow morning walk through working rice fields with a local family, then private transfer back to Vientiane by early afternoon.
